Loan Modification Documents Required
In general, if you are wanting to get a loan modification you will need to submit several financial documents that justify your inability to make payments on your existing mortgage. Gather the following documents and submit them with your Loan Modification request.
Bank Statements All pages of the last two months (2). Example: If the current month is December, send bank statements for October and November. If self-employed, send six (6) months of bank statements Bankruptcy Documents If you have filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, send in the Letter of Reaffirmation paperwork. If you have filed Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, send in the Dismissal or Discharge paperwork. Federal Tax Returns ALL PAGES FOR THE LAST TWO (2) YEARS WITH YOUR W-2 OR 1099 FORMS, STATE TAX RETURNS ARE NOT REQUIRED. If you have difficulty locating our tax returns, do NOT let this delay you in returning the other information requested here. We will instruct you how to get copies. Financial Statement Financial Statement Use the Income/Expense Worksheet Hardship Letter This letter must explain what hardship caused you to fall behind and what has changed to make you able to make the payments now. It must express that a loan modification will resolve your situation. This letter should be typed or handwritten and signed by the borrower and co-borrower. For any real or imagined reason(s) you fell behind, you MUST NOT blame circumstances and you must express a commitment to saving your house from foreclosure. You need to accept responsibility for the situation Modification Proposal The proposed modification to the loan/debt. We will specify what these changes to the loan terms should be, probably a reduction in the interest rate and monthly payment. Mortgage Statement Any month’s past mortgage statement is fine. Send any other documents you have from the mortgage company. Pay Stubs For the last two (2) consecutive pay periods for each person on the mortgage or a P&L statement if self-employed. Proof of Income For all other income including disability (SSI), child support, rental agreements or statements of support, you will need the documents that support the claimed income.
